The results of my first serious attempt at 3D modeling. This is a simple model of a romanesque style structure composed of a dome, arch and Doric columns. For those interested, the Blender model file is attached with this post after the break.
Creating the fluted columns was the biggest challenge. I ended up using a 32 vertex circle, then placing 16 smaller circles at every other vertex. Each smaller circle was then connected with an edge to its neighbour. After deleting the extra edges, the results was an acceptable cross-section of a fluted column, which was then extruded to create the column.
